Job Hunt Status
Jobs I've applied for: 19 Goal: >60
13 of the positions are in the US. 5 in the UK and 1 in France.
Stupid things I've done: Spelling the employer's name wrong.... DO NOT EVER DO THIS! I'd be pretty insulted if I'm the one hiring :P I just hope that the spelling mistake is gonna be neglected...
I should be getting ready to leave Vancouver in a few months. It's probably too early to start selling or giving out my own stuff, but one thing I'm certain- I should stop buying.

Dineout Vancouver 2008- Don Francesco's
Ken, Patty, Tim and me went to Don Francesco's to try their $35 dine out menu yesterday. For someone like me it was equivalent to the cost of 7 meals. I generally go to a restaurant of this class no more than once a year. Needless to say, I know nothing about food and have no idea what the items on the menu are or how to pronounce them.
The highlight of the night were: me getting laughed at by Ken and Patty for pronouncing gelato "Ga-Lee-Toe" (maybe I should have called them ice cream), Ken paying $20 for parking and Tim throwing a match at Patty's face.
Back to the food. Although the food was generally good last night, the appetizer (shown in the picture above) was definitely the most remarkable though. I have no idea about the names of the items I ordered- just look up their menu online.
More pictures from last night can be found at my flickr- http://www.flickr.com/photos/twist_throttle/
I was a rare occasion that I brought my manual focused Takumar 28mm F2.8 out. I knew it'd give me best chances of taking decent pictures. As I expected, it was dark in the restaurant and I did need the 2.8 aperture to get some decently clear pictures. Shake reduction worked great to. As for the post-processing of the pictures, I was reluctant to brighten the pictures too much since the lack of lighting was a part of the mood of the restaurant. But I thought making the pictures would make the food look more delicious? I don't know.

Nasty Mood
I guess this conversation between me and Marcus (one of the examiners of my thesis) would explain the situation:
Marcus: You either get rid of the technical drawings, or make sure they conform to the CSA standards.
Me: How long would it take to learn the CSA standards?
Marcus: About two weeks.
Me: I don't have two weeks. This may not sound important to you but I promised my family to be with them during CNY.
Marcus: That's the decision you have to make.
Me: I'll get this done by the beginning of next week.
So there it is again. Some of my colleagues took easier projects and were done with them after putting in 1/2 of what I put into this project. FUCK is all I want to say.
Looking on the brighter side... this blog is revived! YAY!
